al-Zarqawi Is Dead

Permalink 06/08/06 16:24, by Jeff, Categories: News

News is rumbling about that a pair of 500-pound bombs were dropped into the house he was in, and he didn't survive. The creep is dead! Hoo-ah!

...

The talking heads are being correctly sceptical that this will make a large difference. He, they say, was leading a comparatively small number of people who were responsible for only some of the anarchy in Iraq.

I hope they're wrong. I hope that while they may have only been able to tie him and his group to some insurgent activity that they had influence over others, either directly or indirectly. I hope this influences them to reconsider continuing the insurgency.

I'm not saying I think they'll all give up and try to fit in now. I think the ones that haven't already blown themselves up or otherwise been stopped should show us all the error of our ways by one massive suicide bombing, of their own facility.

I realize that's as unlikely as the other, but a guy can daydream, can't he?

What'll probably happen to work against what we want or need is that the idiots that followed al-Zarqawi will turn him into some kind of hero or martyr, and press on in his name. Dumbasses.

I'm delighted that this monster is dead.
